Information that I have researched indicates that we Boomers should work our fitness programs at least four times a week, preferably five. Our bodies will respond quite well to that schedule. Resistance reps and a cardio workout will keep us from falling apart and, at the same time, keep us loose and fit.
Watching what we eat also becomes a big issue as we age. Maybe it's not a good idea to eat half of a pie while watching a movie late at night (unless, of course, it's cherry). Sensible eating habits do not require dieting to maintain the weight you want to live at. It can be done by eating plenty of the right foods and eliminating the stuff that hurts us over time.
There is, however, another factor that our bodies will respond to and benefit from... the magic of laughter. It is amazing what laughter does to our bodies and our minds. Our minds will move away from the negative influences in our lives when we laugh. Steady doses of smiling and uncontrollable fits of laughter will brighten everyone's day and provide a better outlook on life. Hey, it works every time.
We are also finding out from medical research that laughter is good for the body. What happens to the body is beyond me but it certainly creates a very good result. The positive is so good that each of us should make sure we seek out sources of laughter every day. Go to your "yuk it up" spots regularly and make laughter a major part of your life.
Go ahead... laugh your buns off today.
