Go Outdoors in Chapel Hill

Natural Communities of North Carolina Saturday, February 27th, 2010 from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
This class is designed with the novice naturalist of gardener in mind as well as those wishing to fulfill a core requirement for the Native Plant Studies Certificate. Participants will explore the causes and history of this diversity, the current understanding of the state's vegetation types, how communities are classified and mapped, the processes that determine community structure and composition, and the imperiled status of much of the state's natural diversity. Registration is required, one half-day and one full-day trip.

Guided Walking Tour of the Old Chapel Hill Cemetery Saturday, February 27th, 2010 at 10am

The historic cemetery is located at the corner of Country Club Road and South Road on the edge of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. The site was part of a land grant given by the State of North Carolina in 1796 to develop the University.  The first recorded burial was in 1798.

Participants taking the guided tour are asked to meet at the cemetery’s gazebo on South Road at 10 am on Saturdays.  Tour is $5 per person and sponsored by the Preservation Society of Chapel Hill.  For more information, please see the contact information below.

Yoga in the Garden Sunday, Feburary 28th 3:15pm - 4:45pm
Enjoy the benefits of a mindful yoga practice, emphasizing restoration and relaxation in the beautiful Growning Classroom of the Botanical Gardens Education Center. This opportunity is open for gardeners and non-gardeners alike. Participants should bring a yoga mat because a litmited number of mats will be available.The per-session fee is $10 ($5 for NCBG members).
