As residents, we like to think that Columbia, Missouri provides both the bustle a large city and the close-knit feeling of a small town. This best of both worlds attitude definitely defines a city where college students, locals and retirees all join to make Columbia the “smart, innovative, artsy, eclectic, savvy, vibrant, too-dynamic-to-fit-into-a-short-tagline-city!”  Columbia is home to world-class educational institutions and hospitals, and the local shopping, dining and outdoor life can’t be beat. We’re passionate about our city and what it has to offer. People can’t quite put their finger on it, but there is definitely something about Columbia that always keeps people coming back for more!

Columbia affords residents a chance to play, work and just live. Residents of all ages can find something appealing in our plethora of local restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, museums and parks. Columbia, Missouri is the kind of place where you can start your day with a ride on the relaxing MKT Trail, which weaves its way through town before joining up with the state-wide Katy Trail, and end it with a gourmet meal in The District and a performance on one of Columbia’s college campuses or at the newly restored Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts. Maybe a day of shopping in The District followed with pizza at Shakespeare’s and a movie at the Ragtag Cinema, which brings in independent films to Columbia, is more your style. Whatever your tastes, Columbia can satisfy your hunger for a good time.

But don’t just take my word for it. People who visit have a hard time describing why, but most make at least one return visit and some, of course, even relocate. So whether it’s just for a weekend or you decide to stay and play by making Columbia your home, our city’s uniqueness will never disappoint.
